We have a long-term patient here who is awaiting a potential transplant. He has had many setbacks and currently shaded on the listing. His birthday was last month and as you can imagine, he is quite depressed being several hundred miles from his family and unable to leave due to his condition. Jeanine took the time to plan a surprise party with the help of our staff, doctors, PT/OT and Streetlight. She got in contact with the family and found out some of his favorite things, and coordinated so that they could be here as well. He is interested in cars and she had a special car cake made for him. He was very surprised and grateful for the attention. With patients this sick, every day counts and the potential to be his last birthday is always a reality. Jeanine took the initiative and made this a lasting memory and a very special day for him. The patient's morale has been visibly improved since. Jeanine is a very special nurse and her caring spirit is so refreshing.
