Jeanne always smiled, always checked in, truly cared, and went above and beyond during our time together.
Our interaction started on Friday, after a very long day, when my husband arrived on the floor. Jeanne met us in the hall, took control with a transfer off into the bed, was highly professional, kind, and compassionate, and made him feel wanted and comfortable and that “he would be ok.” It started at Hello and never stopped until she left at the end of her shift on Sunday night. Jeanne made us feel like we were the only people there…. she continually checked in and understood my husband’s feelings, always showing kindness and concern. She checked in with him regularly and made sure he was comfortable and “behaving.” Jeanne clearly took the time to listen and always provided me, his wife, status reports when I arrived every day.
Jeanne knew what my husband was going through and never "brushed him off," and I liked it when she put him in line a few times saying, “I will get to you. Hang on…” as sometimes my husband thought he was the only one there. She got to know not only the “patient” but a wife who cared how things were going. Jeanne was always patient, never showed any signs of being bothered, and was truly the “best of the best” throughout our time together. A 12-hour day can be physically demanding and Jeanne never compromised patient care, was highly professional above and beyond with my husband’s other healthcare staff showed integrity, and always treated her patients with the utmost care, always checking in. It really made a big difference going through a health scare like we had, making a significant impact across the floor where she works.
Jeanne always smiled, always checked in, truly cared, and went above and beyond during our time together. You may ask, but isn’t this what a nurse should do? There were A LOT of patients on the floor requiring help. To see Jeanne provide this attention and compassion is very rare compared to our previous stay. Jeanne deserves this award and would like to be there if and when she is awarded.
