My best friend has terminal cancer. She has been in & out of Good Samaritan as well as a couple of other Chicago hospitals over the last 8 years. Most recently she has suffered with nausea & dehydration from her last clinical trial chemo. Twice in the last few months, I have brought her to the South Downers emergent care. Jeanne Dore was her nurse both times. Jeanne was quick to provide comfort to a patient desperately in need. She treated my friend with dignity & respect.
Jeanne was attentive and made sure that my friend had the care she needed and was on her way as soon as possible. She has spent too much time in hospitals & doctor's offices. Jeanne’s calm reassuring manner was so important to my friend. She brought an extra blanket to warm her, she wore a calm smile that said "I understand".
As if that was not enough, Jeanne was the nurse working on the day I brought my friend's husband in for an acute illness!! He was happy to see a familiar face and was comforted by her swift actions to get him better so he could get back to the care of his wife. Jeanne deserves the DAISY Award for the amazing compassion she showed to this family (and me). Thank you, Jeanne.
