Jeanne exemplified what a nurse is today. Someone who is selfless, caring, respectful, and extraordinary. She went above and beyond for a patient who had an accident in his pants in the clinic.
He was in the custody of his aunt and needed someone to show him respect and love. Jeanne was that person for him; she was kind, loving, and warm towards this child. She embodied the values of SSM Health and Cardinal Glennon. This young man struggles with Tourette's in his legs and to see her carry/walk him down the hall by herself, out of the exam room to the bathroom to physically change him out of his wet clothes, while continuously reassuring this child with nice comments and loving words while he was in pain and uncomfortable was deeply moving. The way she took over the parental care for this patient was something to be admired.
It is so easy to stay in the clinical lane, especially while the guardian is there, however, the guardian was overwhelmed by the day, and what makes Jeanne so special as a nurse and a person is that she noticed a need outside of her role and truly stepped up.
Jeanne, I want to personally say thank you for what you do day in and day out! You are the culture and show the real reason why we are all here!
