During my pre-admission testing, there was one nurse who I feel should be recognized for her nursing talent, compassion, and knowledge - Jeanne. I felt at ease as soon as I walked into the room. Jeanne spent time with me and helped to alleviate my fears with explanations of my upcoming surgery. I never felt like she needed to be anywhere but there to take care of me. What a powerful encounter. I cannot even describe in words how she put me at ease and comforted me about my upcoming surgery.
On the day of surgery, Jeanne, made a surprise visit to my room in the short procedure unit to check in with me. That was impressive! This RN exemplifies what a nurse should be; in fact, she raised the bar! I cannot even begin to tell you how much that meant to me. She is impacting patients' lives and making a difference.
