Jeannette, today, chose to help my wife instead of going to lunch with a coworker. I am a CPA (tax) accountant. I know when I get crazy busy how badly I want to have lunch with a coworker. If I were her, with yucky, cold, dreary weather, I would have gone to lunch. Here are the facts: 24 hours ago, my wife gets the awful news: 3rd straight miscarriage, DNC needed within a day. She and I have been absolutely crushed, sad, mad, depressed, you call it. Jeannette Rivas heard our story, bonded with us, and told us her story, through her experiences (without spilling her personal info, she has suffered like we have!). We can’t tell you how meaningful it was to have her with us. She understood and above all things, gave us hope. She not only deserves this award, but a lunch for not passing us off to another teammate. Sometimes a missed lunch can mean the world to a husband and wife in total sadness and despair.
