She never takes shortcuts when it comes to patient care, she’s always the first to volunteer to help out her coworkers, and she is always more than willing to do more work if it means better patient care.
To pick one story that shares how amazing Jeannie Sternberg is would be nearly impossible. I have worked with Jeannie for 8 years and every day I am reminded how thankful I am to have her on my team and in my life. Jeannie is the hardest-working nurse I have ever met. No matter what the clinic day throws at her, she goes above and beyond for every veteran she encounters. This includes watching a veteran’s children to give the veteran a much needed moment to herself, meeting with a veteran who didn’t have a scheduled appointment just because he wanted to talk to Jeannie, asking about reminders that are not due simply because she knew it was the right thing to do, making phone calls to multiple departments to try to solve a patient’s oxygen tank issue, or just spending extra time with the patient because that’s what they needed.
These examples I listed didn’t happen over months but within one week. They usually happen several times a day. Jeannie has a heart of gold and consistently goes above and beyond. We had a patient whose cataract surgery was canceled twice because he was found to have bedbugs. This was after he had already arranged his own transportation and arrived at the VA. Jeannie heard about what had happened to this patient and refused to accept this. On the day of his rescheduled surgery date, Jeannie arranged for the patient to come into our clinic, helped him shower and get clean clothes on, and transported him to his surgery on time. She never takes shortcuts when it comes to patient care, she’s always the first to volunteer to help out her coworkers, and she is always more than willing to do more work if it means better patient care. I literally could not do my job without Jeannie. She is most definitely the biggest asset to our team. She is a star.
