Jearnita "Nicci" Miller-Mathis, LPN

I was coming up to get another patient and to inform Nicci that I was going to be transporting said patient. I walked into the room that she was in as she was giving the patient her medication. I stayed in the room, and after her medication was given, I witnessed how compassionate and caring Nicci was; it brought me to tears. She talked and comforted the patient, let her know she loved her, hugged her, and took the time out of her busy schedule to just connect with her patient. She truly showed great interest in the patient’s need to not feel so alone in her room and to make sure she knew without a doubt that she had someone who was there for her in her time of need and made her feel more than a patient. We all cried, shared a moment I will never forget, and also reminded me that she is what a true nurse is!
