Jeff helped care for a patient in a room that he was not assigned to. He learned that this patient was a veteran and has had a rough year since he returned from active duty. Jeff, who is a veteran himself, was the perfect match for this patient. He was able to relate to the struggles of returning from active duty and provided a compassionate space. Even after Jeff transferred care over, he continued to check on the patient and stayed engaged in his care. Jeff not only embodies the skills needed to be a proficient emergency room nurse, he also has the skills and compassion needed for those suffering from mental illness.
