Jeff went above and beyond to make sure that I was as comfortable in a bad situation as could be. He was very thorough and has a great personality. He was helpful in explaining what was going on, and what the next steps would be. He helped create a profile on My Chart and took the time to show some navigation issues. He had to take a lot of blood and was very thorough in making sure everything was sterile for accuracy. He was extremely gentle with the needle sticks. Now, there are probably many that do a great job on what I described above. However, that is not the sole reason for my nomination. During my care I found out he was also a paramedic. He described how he loved that job as well as ER nurse. I asked him how he got interested in health care, and he told me it started out as a great career choice…a job that was interesting and would afford him a good living. He stated that after a few years, it started to become apparent to him that he simply enjoyed taking care of people. He went on to share some highlights.

My career position requires me to deal with a lot of people over the past 37 years of my employment. I believe I am pretty good at identifying what is genuine and what is not. Jeff was sincere and seemed to “light up” just talking to me about his job. The man has his heart in his job and the patient. Well, I cannot see how you can take better care of a patient physically and psychologically than Jeff.
