This is our fourth inpatient rehab stay at CHOP over the past 10 years. We have known Jeff a long time and not only is he an excellent nurse, but he is amazing with our son.

This past surgery (his 11th orthopedic surgery) was very tough as it was a full spinal fusion and our son has a congenital muscle disease making recovery much tougher. Our son went through some medical difficulties involving an ICU and pulmonary unit stay before arriving to the rehab unit and has been struggling emotionally. Jeff came up with this amazing process for him to earn a prize by having him fill out questionnaires, get information around the unit from other nurses and staff, and even do some arts and crafts. Our son was so motivated by the process and had so much fun, that his stress was significantly reduced and he felt happy about having something to look forward to. There was even a ceremony for the prize with a crown and an audience of staff!

Over the years Jeff has always been able to make our son smile, but what he did for him today was above and beyond and so wonderful. Not to mention Jeff is always able to make the parents laugh too when we are stressed!
