After open heart surgery, I suffered setbacks—these necessitated weeks of ECMO treatment in CPU, ICU, Telemetry, and finally, the 4th floor, where I was fortunate to be cared for by Jeffrey. Everyone who cared for me there, my doctors, nurses, PTs, and nurse assistants, were amazing in saving my life. Jeffrey and other 4th-floor caregivers "inherited" a shell of a man who couldn't get out of bed. I was treated with respect and love, especially in the most deplorable conditions of being unable to do anything myself. Jeffrey Tapel was my daily ray of sunshine! His positivity was contagious and gave me hope every time he stepped in. Jeffrey was my sounding board for my distress and anguish. His broad grins, huge hugs, warm handshakes, and corny laughs were much like one of my seven kids. No matter how busy Jeffrey was, he made time, if only to stop in and apologize for not having more time! This man is the epitome of a caring professional with his personal touch! He should be an inspiration to everyone in healthcare!
