Jen was my nurse for the first three nights in the hospital. She was the first nurse I saw when I arrived in the hospital. She worked with us to accommodate our requests, made sure we were both comfortable, and explained everything that was happening. Throughout the induction, I was having a lot of back pain. She was great with showing me different positions to help relieve the pressure. She spent as much time with me as I needed and someone always answered my call light immediately.
After a couple days, I began to feel as though we were running out of options. All of the staff in FBC kept the mood light and cheerful which helped pass the time and keep me positive. Jen was always willing to sit and talk to me and answer any questions or concerns I had about what was happening. When she left work Friday morning, I was finally getting close to delivery. She was a little disappointed that after our three nights working toward this moment that she would not get to be there for the birth. However, she did come back later in the day to come check on us and see the baby.
The moment that meant the most to me was after being home for three days I had a serious break down when breastfeeding wasn't going well. I couldn't stop crying even enough to make a phone call to the FBC for help and had no idea what was going on with me. Without my knowledge, the nurses in FBC were alerted that I was having a hard time with breastfeeding. Jen called me from home to talk to me about what was going on and let me know that I wasn't crazy and everything I was feeling and going through was completely normal. I felt so much better after getting off the phone with her. She made sure to give me her number in case I needed to talk again. This meant the world to me. I really felt that she was truly there for me when I needed her most!
