She took care of me like I was one of her family members.
I come into JACC twice a month, every 4 months, for treatment. I have rheumatoid arthritis, and every time I come I have reactions it’s painful and scary. I came in today nervous, hoping to see a familiar face to take me back, but Jen came out, and my heart sank not because she is a bad nurse, but because I had never seen her before. It’s hard for new nurses with me because I have reactions, and sometimes I’m not heard. I have been doing this for years, so I know what helps and what doesn’t. When Jen took me back, she said, "I looked through your chart, and I see you have reactions." I said, "Yes, ma’am." She said, "You look nervous. Don’t be; it’s going to be a good day!" From that point on, I felt a sense of calm inside. Jen walked me through everything like every nurse does, but today felt different. Unfortunately, I did have a reaction, it’s inevitable, but Jen was so calm, she listened to me, she didn’t overmedicate me. She kept my rate slow and low, she didn’t mind that it was going to take all day. She stayed positive; I could tell by the tone of her voice that she just wanted to keep me calm. She held on to me when I said I needed to stand! My husband usually is the one to hold me, but he didn’t have to. Jen was so attentive! She is really fulfilling her true calling! She is amazing, don’t get me wrong, I have had multiple great nurses, but today Jen really stood out. She took care of me like I was one of her family members. This organization is truly lucky to have Jen!
