My husband underwent an outpatient prostate surgery, which did not go well. He became very ill and in extreme pain and suffered all night. The day nurse, Jen, saw and recognized his distress and alerted the charge nurse to immediately call for a rapid response team. They had to do an emergency surgery to repair a ruptured bladder and colon. I firmly believe that had it not been for this special nurse's intervention, my husband would not have survived. She followed and visited him in SICU and back to the floor. Her care and compassion were exemplary.
