Jena joined the 3 Med team about one year ago. When she arrived, I am sure she had no idea of the toxic environment she was placing herself into. The team was used to not being held accountable for their actions. Attendance was terrible, as were the attitudes of half of the unit. Some of the staff were being bullied by other staff members, and working on 3 Med was definitely not a pleasant experience for those floating to the unit or those working on the unit.

Jena took the time to get to know her team members, held people accountable for their actions, and made the unit a great place to work. I know that she has had lots of challenges, but she has navigated everything that everyone has thrown at her. She has become a role model for those who work with her and for herself, and she quickly responds to challenges like a pro. She works countless hours to ensure her team has everything they need to be successful for our patients.

When one of our night shift team members tragically passed away, she came in multiple evenings to check in on the team and ensure they all had the resources they needed and the time to grieve. She is consistently present when needed and is visible to all shifts. She is a leader who leads with her heart, and I am blessed to support her as we all work together to make 3 Med a great place to work and grow.
