Jenna is a NICU nurse and an ECMO specialist. She was assigned to sit an ECMO pump in the CICU, however the plan this specific morning was to take the infant to the chapel to withdraw ECMO support. Once the transporting process began, Jenna's services would no longer be needed at the ECMO pump. Upon arrival at the chapel, parents requested some privacy with their son in the Patty Anne Room and their friends and family members would wait in the main area of the chapel. As the medical team, parents, and family entered the chapel, we were greeted with beautiful piano music being played on the grand piano. The person playing the beautiful music was Jenna. She left the CICU, went down to the chapel, and played for over an hour while this family spent time with their precious son. Jenna selflessly brought peaceful music to what was a very emotional situation. Jenna is truly the essence of a Children's Mercy nurse. A big thanks to Jenna's husband as well. At her request, he promptly delivered the sheet music to her.
