She was honest with him about what was going to happen and listened to his concerns and needs.
My son came to Driscoll Children’s Hospital for emergency surgery. Post-op, he was expectedly out of sorts. Jenna rolled with the punches and laughed when the family laughed, yet still was able to do what she had to do. She was gentle and extremely compassionate. Those seem to be a rarity of a duo anymore. Jenna showed she truly cares about her patients. She had no problem having fun with my son; she was quick to respond to anything he needed and generally made him feel good. She was honest with him about what was going to happen and listened to his concerns and needs. She even used a flashlight so as not to disturb him while he slept. I have never seen that before and it just showed the extra steps she was willing to take. Besides what she wrote on his board, she remembered little things about him that he thought were nice and made their interactions smooth and, given the circumstances, enjoyable. Another thing Jenna did that is rare was she took her time in the room. Not in the sense of slowly working. No, in fact, she was very seasoned in what to do and how to navigate the close confines of the room. Her time in the room was primarily spent listening to my son and just talking to him and us as parents. For us to even remember her name should say something about the care she provides.
