Jenna would share fun and inspirational stories with her to try to brighten her day.
Jenna had multiple techniques to motivate my mom to get out of bed and move around even on her worst days. She was great at teaching my mom how to advocate for herself. She would help advocate for my mom by passing along vital emotions as well as physical and medical needs she had in report to ensure my mom continued receiving holistic health care. Jenna was the best at explaining things to our family. She never talked to you like a child but she also never talked above your head. She knew just the right words to use to ensure we understood what was happening while granting us the dignity of not talking to us like we were ignorant.
Jenna would go above and beyond her role as an RN in ensuring my mom's hygiene was well taken care of by assisting in bathing her when techs were unable. This also shows great teamwork. She was very diligent while giving meds and performing bedside procedures to ensure my mom knew what she was doing and what she was taking at all times.
Jenna closely monitored my mom's condition and was always on top of keeping the doctors informed when she saw a change. Jenna also listened to our concerns about changes we would see as a family and ensured those were addressed with the doctors as well. Jenna worked 6 days in a row to support her unit and ensure the patients were cared for. She showed compassion in active listening and always asked if we had any questions.
My mom was suffering from depression due to the amount of life-altering physical changes she went through while in the hospital. Jenna would share fun and inspirational stories with her to try to brighten her day. I believe Jenna is DAISY Nurse because her knowledge, compassion, diligence, holistic care, and therapeutic approach to hard discussions were unmatched by any other.
