She constantly asked if our family needed anything, treating each of us not only as additional patients but as if we were her own family going through such a difficult process.
I am writing to share the remarkable care my husband received at Mount Sinai Medical Center, thanks to the compassionate and extraordinary efforts of one nurse, Jenna Sheron, on the 4th-floor Medical ICU. My husband was admitted for nearly 3 weeks as a trauma patient. Jenna cared for my husband for 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts while he was on life support until he passed away. Jenna's care was nothing short of extraordinary. She cared for him round the clock, displaying the highest level of expertise and professionalism while maintaining his dignity and showing such tender compassion and care. She always ensured his comfort and safety. She constantly asked if our family needed anything, treating each of us not only as additional patients but as if we were her own family going through such a difficult process. Her gentle words and calming presence provided comfort during our most difficult moments. Perhaps most remarkable was when she participated in the Walk of Honor to the operating room to attempt to harvest organs for transplant. Not only did she lead the walk, but she then stayed with his daughter and me while he was extubated and for the painful 70 minutes waiting for him to finally pass. Jenna did her best to fight back tears during that process, but to no avail. I have worked in health care for close to 40 years. I have rarely seen such exemplary care provided for a patient and their family. Thank you for your attention to this important recognition. Please be sure to share this with Jenna's supervisor and ensure that Jenna receives the recognition she deserves. She is fairly new to the nursing profession, but is on a path to greatness, and Mount Sinai should be proud to have her on the exceptional care team. Her kindness will remain with us always.
