Jenna made me feel important like I was a friend and not just a patient, and she let me know that I could count on her for my care.
I was rushed to Swedish by ambulance around 5:00 pm on Saturday. I was having a stroke. To my tremendous fortune, my wife knew exactly what was happening to me, called 911 immediately, and insisted they take me to Swedish. I got TPA at 5:24 pm and the medical team here saved my life and made it possible for me to have a full and complete recovery from my stroke. I spent the first 24 hours in ICU. I was then transferred to the 7th floor (neurology floor) on Sunday afternoon where I met Jenna, who was my nurse until her shift ended at 7:30 pm that night. Jenna immediately made me feel comfortable, confident, and safe. Her words, her smile, her wonderful personality, and her ability to immediately adapt to me as a patient, made me feel reassured secure, and even happy. Her explanation of what I could expect, what needed to be done, and what the plan was for me was concise, articulate, and comforting. She made me feel important like I was a friend and not just a patient, and she let me know that I could count on her for my care. She gave me the best care I have ever had from a nurse. She gave me several shots, mostly insulin, all of which were painless. She came in immediately when I called. She made me as comfortable as possible with blankets, pillows, my "compression" machine, and in every other way possible! She told me my vitals, which I wanted to know, and shared everything medical with me. Most importantly, she talked, she listened, and she just made me feel good overall. She came back this morning and stayed with me and worked with me throughout the day. It was great to see her this morning and she seemed genuinely happy to see me. That made me feel great! I was really happy to have Jenna back today. We talked about life, family, sports, and many other things (she was great at multi-tasking) and I felt she really cared about who I was and what I was about. I feel very fortunate in so many ways one of which was having Jenna as my nurse! She helped me heal my mind and my body through her tremendous care and attention. Jenna is a truly Extraordinary Nurse.
