Jenna Walaszczyk was my nurse when I came to Mercy Emergency Department for a guest dose of methadone. She was so kind to me and kept me informed on everything that was going on with my health. Jenna treated me with the utmost respect. She should get an award or some kind of recognition because I've always had good experiences at all UPMCs, but Jenna went above and beyond. She treated me like a human, not just a junkie getting methadone. Jenna also asked if I had any other concerns or needed anything else. I was blown away by the treatment I received from Jenna. She brought me back from a very low point and made me feel human again. It takes a special individual to be able to deliver that kind of care. Jenna treats all of her patients with dignity, respect, and kindness. She goes out of her way to make sure our most vulnerable patients are taken care of when they leave by providing as much food, clothing, and comfort items as possible. She sees only a person in need and does not judge them because they are unhoused or addicted. Her kindness is commendable.
