My mom was taken to the UH emergency department during the morning hours because she was having difficulty breathing. She wasn't far from her 84th birthday. We had no idea that her birthday would be spent wondering if she would make it due to a blood clot in her lung and pneumonia. It all started with knee pain and my mom's inability to keep her body moving. When she was transferred to this floor, mom's knee pain was still severe. My first interaction with a nurse was tearfully pleading for some relief for my mom. This wonderful nurse responded with empathy and strength. Through my interaction with Jenni, I was calmed and was given what I needed to confidently support my mom. Jenni was a confident, caring, and consoling nurse throughout our family's journey. We knew we could trust her to do what was best. I not only witnessed her doing her job well, but I also watched as she trained another. The University Hospital Community is wise to take advantage of this RN’s talents and gifts by giving others the opportunity to learn from her. My experience with her taught me more than she will ever know. Thank you for sharing yourself with me and my family. You are a treasure.
