Dr. Ryan runs the physical exam and assessment course that students take prior to entering clinicals. She does an outstanding job to ensure that all of the students get the most out of the course; the course consists of students in many different specialty tracks. I have deeply appreciated her commitment to running an excellent course and developing new content every semester (she does not use the same recordings over and over). She is professional, responsive, challenging, and demonstrates humble expertise. Out of all of the courses I have taken, this class is by far the most organized, thoughtful, and applicable to practice. Today, she posted a video demonstrating the history and physical assessment of a newborn that she performed on her nephew. As a result, we were able to visualize the neonatal reflexes and normal findings in a real infant. The assessment video was so well done and thought out and will be a tool I carry forward into clinical rotations.
