I first met Jennifer Off after being diagnosed with stage IV stomach cancer. I experienced an early recurrence following surgery and began treatment with systemic chemotherapy. What I want to be able to illustrate to the DAISY Award committee is Jenn's armamentarium of skill - professionalism, clinical acumen, efficiency, technical ability, compassion, and true love and dedication to her job.
Jenn is one of the "go to" nurses for difficult IVs and therefore was assigned to put in my IV for the first treatment - this was before my MediPort was placed. My wife and I immediately noticed Jenn's professionalism, down to earth demeanor, and her highly skilled clinical abilities. She made us feel comfortable and confident because of how she carries herself and how she interacted with us. She is confident, yet humble; pleasant, yet gets down to business. She placed my IV with no problem and we walked away after getting fluids that day and felt "wow, wasn't she an awesome nurse?" This was only the beginning.
