My 85-year-old husband has dementia and came through ER with cellulitis and a bladder infection from his nursing facility. He was disoriented and sometimes his anxiety elevated to aggression, and refusal to submit to needed medical procedures, even such a simple act as taking his temperature. Jennifer was totally understanding of his dementia and would talk quietly to him, usually repetitively, until he would finally agree to let her do what was needed. On the occasional time, he would not accept her needed care, she stood beside me as I persuaded him to accept the necessary care and she would be there holding his hand as she smiled and praised him while finally getting her task completed.

On the second day of her assignment to his care, he began to greet her as she came to assess his condition and need of the moment. He would say thank you (most of the time) when she was completed and informed him that everything was done. Even in the few times when pain was unavoidable, he could usually thank her as she conversed with him about why the procedure was necessary, and that it was completed.

Her skill and professionalism were evident, but her beautiful compassionate heart attitude toward her ill and disabled patient was so wonderful! A bonus of this amazing nurse was her consistent concern for ME... her last words as she was going to exit the room were usually, "Now is there anything I can do for YOU?"

ALL the nursing staff was great, each different, obviously well skilled, and all exhibiting a caring attitude for patients and family alike. Jennifer is one of those outstanding people who gives far beyond the necessary, even beyond the expected services, and does it with such an obvious caring ability!

Thank you, Jennifer A, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
