I am a patient who has been admitted to TRMC for almost 2.5 months. In this time, I have had multiple nurses treat me with compassionate care, but one nurse has really gone above and beyond to help make a difference in my stay. Jennifer A has done multiple things, during the time I have been admitted, to improve my mental, physical, and emotional health.

After I was done working with PT one day I was feeling very discouraged. (I had gone from being an Independent person to now being bed-bound and unable to care for my basic needs) Jennifer could see this and decided to get me back into the wheelchair and take me outside. Jennifer stayed with me outside and sat with me in the sanctuary. I can’t tell you what this did for not only my physical self but also my mental health. We talked about my goals, and I felt that Jennifer was very empowering to me. I left this conversation feeling encouraged and had the strength to keep working towards these goals to get stronger so I could return home to my family.

On another occasion, Jennifer was assigned to my care. She came into my room and identified a smell. She got the entire care team on board to get me out of the bed and into a shower chair. This was the 2nd shower I have had since my brain bleed. She stripped the room and sanitized everything in this room. Jennifer did this care in a compassionate and respectful way. She left me with more dignity than any other nurse had. Even when Jennifer was not assigned to my care, I can count on her to come and check on me. Just by stopping in, she lifted my spirits and encouraged me to get through another day. Thank you, Jennifer!
