May 2025 Honoree
Jennifer Andersen, RN
Nomination from Family Medicine Patient:
I have struggled with immense chronic pain. I have been taking medication to help the fibromyalgia pain for a couple of years. Unfortunately, it is not being covered by the two insurance companies I’ve tried to work with.
I sent an application for my physician to fill out their portion, so perhaps I can obtain this medication through the pharmaceutical company. Then I received a letter stating that I needed to find a new insurance company because my current one would no longer be available here. Therefore, I obtained a new insurance company, and it’s not covered.
I received a message from Jenn asking about my application and if I had received the letter. She offered any assistance I may need. I called to discuss how I had to change insurance companies, which will, in turn, delay the application process. This medication costs over $500 on a prescription RX.
Jenn was extremely supportive, kind, and offered ideas as to how we could get this application sent in and hopefully approved before I ran out of medication. Since my health declined, I am not always pleasant due to my being in significant pain constantly. Jenn was so kind to me, understanding, and so willing to make sure I don’t have to wean off my medication. I haven’t seen anyone go to such lengths to reach out and help me since I got sick.
I truly appreciate her professionalism, knowledge, and compassion for patients. She truly cares and wants to help others. My mother and sister are both nurses; therefore, I have so much respect for the job a nurse does.
Jenn Andersen truly abides by the Nurse’s Pledge of Service, which you don’t see as much these days. I believe that she is such an unbelievable asset, and we need more nurses like Jenn Andersen.
