Jennie offered the intern, a complete stranger, a room at her home.
Jennie is a team player. When she finishes her work, she often asks others if they need help with their patients or workload. I am always amazed at Jennie's skill and attention to detail. When a patient starts to get in trouble, she is the first person to jump in and start assessing the patient and writing detailed notes for documentation. It is always comforting knowing that Jennie will be at work. You know that the patient will be in good hands but as a staff member, you know you have back up.
Our medical director has commented how thorough and what a good nurse Jennie is. Jennie is also persistent. She will call and send reports on patients when she is concerned about them. She will follow through with another phone call when she does not have a resolution. Jennie communicates well with others. She only works part-time so she will introduce her patient to other staff members to help the patient feel comfortable and recognize staff when she is not there. She also shares the patient information or concerns with staff. She goes above and beyond her job.
There was an intern at the hospital who drove back and forth from Columbus to UVMC every day. Jennie offered the intern, a complete stranger, a room at her home. She also has compassion for others, she often buys sandwiches (lunch) for our diabetics who have financial troubles. She buys lunch for staff and visitors....the "pay it forward" attitude. These small or big acts make a difference to our patients. She also leads by example and is an exceptional nurse. She is a good mentor, demonstrating critical thinking, compassion, and a good work ethic. She deserves to be a DAISY Winner!
