Jennifer is the perfect example of what a Charge Nurse should be. She is kind, compassionate, and works with each person on the floor as issues come up. She is proactive in identifying safety issues. She discusses with staff any patient issues and how to provide a safe environment. She is the first to get up with the bed alarm and IV pumps. She creates an environment of trust by working beside other employees. She assists with tray delivery and cleaning up rooms and patients as well. She also builds trust by demonstrating her expertise in procedures and patient care.

Jennifer is the first to follow-up on patient issues or concerns: from cleaning up a patient's room to contacting dietary for trays. Those who work with her understand they have someone in charge willing to work as hard as them. She motivates staff by showing a shared vision of patient care and not just ordinary care: quality care, safety, and concerns of employees and patients are important to her. She has a huge smile that also adds to her compassion and enthusiasm to work together toward a shared goal.

Jennifer each day demonstrates (without even knowing it) her commitment to human life improvement. She is compassionate, an expert in nursing procedures and quality of care delivery. She cares about how patients and the staff that is able to work with her each day. Examples: She speaks to each person every day to follow up if they have any needs and have what they need to do their jobs. She takes admissions on days that nurses have gotten 2 new patients during a shift (I know no other charge nurse to do this). She is the first to help with the delivery of trays to isolation patients. She answers call lights, speaks with families, and follows up to be sure their needs have been met.
