I began what was clearly one of the most terrifying things in my life. Speculation, fear of the unknown things and just the general knowledge that potentially this could be my ultimate demise. What I was not prepared for however was meeting Michelle and Jen. I have since learned that not only did I have two of the most wonderful caregivers aside from my own family, I now have two friends that I put my every confidence and trust into. Michelle and Jen are knowledgeable friendly patient advocates and true angels. They gave me a sense of peace and comfort during some of my most terrifying times. They were able to guide me through an uncertain process and allow for me to ask questions and ask them again if I needed to. From a personal perspective, they treated me like a human being and made me feel safe. The department as a whole is a stand -out unit that deserves daily recognition for their efforts and achievements in walking with patients on such a journey. I would love to consider that Michelle and Jen are my true “wing-ladies” and I would fly with them any day of the week. Michelle and Jen should be considered for The DAISY Award and they should also be considered for spearheading a program for future caregivers in that unit to show them all the true definition of amazing!
