Too often we underestimate the power of touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, or the smallest act of caring which can turn a life around.
I am an RN myself and unfortunately, I was a patient and had surgery in August 2021. Jennifer was my nurse. By being a nurse myself for over 20 years I can say that she was great, an outstanding nurse! She took care of me for the whole day, and it felt like I had a private nurse. Every time I opened my eyes, she was there to help me. She met all my needs, whether I needed to go to the bathroom, turn in bed, take my meds, or even take a sip of water. She found the time to hold my hand and talk to me, which was very touching and very unusual since nurses are busy all the time, especially now during Covid time, with short staffing. It helped me so much in my post-op recovery. It felt like I had a family member next to me all the time and I was not alone. Too often we underestimate the power of touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, or the smallest act of caring which can turn a life around. “You may forget their name, but you will never forget how they made you feel.” You are so lucky and fortunate to have Jennifer as a nurse on your floor. She is a huge asset to your department.
