My 31-year-old son came to ICU in the very early hours. I had been called by a friend of his and told he was struggling for his life and in surgery. You can imagine my panic as I rushed to the ER and then was directed to the ICU. By the grace of God, I saw my boy was still alive. Jennifer was right there with him and calmly and professionally explained his current state and next steps.

For one of the very few times in my life, I broke down in tears of relief and Jennifer was kind enough to give me a hug. It meant everything in that moment. Throughout the day and early evening, Jennifer was exceptionally attentive to my son’s needs, calling in and coordinating the many medical specialists needed. Later, when my son was extubated, he was extraordinarily impatient and brusque. Jennifer handled this with finesse and maintained her professionalism. It is day-by-day heroes such as Jennifer that, in addition to saving a precious life, contribute to and foster the humanity in all of us. Thank you, Jennifer.
