November 2024 Honoree
Jennifer Curtis 2024, RN, BSN
As a physician who has worked in hospitals and ICUs for a long time, I thought I had a good understanding of how hospitals work. Then, when I unexpectedly became a patient in this nursing unit, I realized I did not really understand what it was like to be a patient. As a patient, you're scared, terrified, and unsure of what to expect. The nurses I had at Hillcrest were wonderful and made it easier to get through a tough time.
Jennifer Curtis stood out. She was so kind and compassionate. When I was walking in the hallways, she encouraged me. When I needed my medications and IV fluids, she was efficient and quick. I had always appreciated nursing, but even more so now as I realize it's nursing that gives the hospital its culture and personality. With nurses like Jennifer Curtis as leaders on the floor, it really sets a positive tone for the whole floor team. I will always be grateful.
