Jenny helped me develop critical thinking skills better than any other clinical instructor that I have had in the past. When performing procedures, administering medications, doing dressing changes, or any other task at clinical she knew what questions to ask that would foster my critical thinking without making me feel inadequate. Jenny helped me learn in many different ways by quizzing me on the spot, letting me figure out things on my own, making an NCLEX jeopardy game, and scheduling valuable observation experiences. Jenny also has great relationships with the other nurses on the floor that she is a clinical instructor at. This respect that she receives from the other nurses helps us as students build good working relationships with the nurses. Jenny is also very intuitive to our needs as students and judging what we can handle and when. She keeps track of what kinds of patients we have cared for in the past and works hard to give all of her students a wide variety of patient experiences. - Student Jen has taught at Children's Hospital for many years. She is a favored instructor here at CHW. There is not one example of excellence as it is threaded through everything she does. She sets her standards high for herself and her students. She currently is a clinical instructor on West 9, a pediatric surgical unit where staff consider her "part of the West 9 family." She keeps herself up to date on the many practice changes that occur and makes sure all of her students are as well. Jen is prepared and professional at all times; as well as extremely organized and detail oriented in all she does. She manages a large clinical group with ease even during times of low census.
