The ER witnessed an unfortunate pediatric suicide attempt hold which involved domestic violence and Child Protective Services. Sam and Jen took the initiative to ensure the 12 year old patient still had a Christmas. These two RNs arranged for a gift to be given from the ER shift to the patient including clothes, slippers, snacks, candy, coloring pencils, and a drawing pad. They wrapped the gifts and coordinated a communal card for the patient. The patient was very surprised and shared her joy that the nurses had noticed her love for drawing in the gift. These two nurses exemplify what it means to be an Ascension nurse.
