Ms. Dyck was nominated by one of her students, who describes how this instructor's experience, passion, and advocacy for the care of Postpartum women profoundly influenced her clinical learning group. The student describes how Ms. Dyck personally shared her experiences working with patients diagnosed with postpartum depression. It was through sharing these compelling stories, that the nursing students gained a deeper understanding of the experience of someone diagnosed with postpartum depression and how they could help these patients. The instructor's passion for this topic and patient advocacy are demonstrated through her work with the Arizona State Board of Nursing and hospital systems in Arizona, to advocate for screening all postpartum women for postpartum depression. The instructor's personal sharing of her experiences and how she has used these experiences as a platform to captivate people to listen and enact change has served as an inspiration for her students. The student sums up Ms. Dyck's nomination by stating, "this experience was one of the most inspiring days in my entire nursing career and I am so grateful to have learned under such an amazing professor."
