Professor Ferguson is consistently described as kind, compassionate, patient, confident, professional, enthusiastic, and inspiring.  She is an expert nurse and expert educator with an interest in and respect for learners. She is an excellent role model, communicates clearly, and has high expectations for her students. One student said that she brings rationalism to the classroom that makes difficult information easy to grasp, while bringing an energy that makes even the most boring topics fun.  She truly cares about each of her students, and it is obvious in her classroom that she wants her students to succeed as nurses.  She was never demeaning, and there was never a question that was a waste of her time.  She makes the nursing students feel as though they are worth her time.  The class felt that they would be fortunate to reach her level of competency or reach her level of knowledge.  She is truly an inspiration to the nursing students at MidAmerica.  Using many different teaching methods to facilitate her students ' learning, she cares deeply about their success and has shown them the knowledge and passion needed to be a great nurse.  Several shared that they would want Professor Ferguson to be their nurse.
