Jen called me about a patient who had bed bugs. This lady had to come in for a test. While the patient was here, she felt bad because everyone had to wear special clothes too so they wouldn't transmit the bed bugs. The lady was upset because she has tried to get rid of these bugs, but it hasn't worked. She told Jen that she just doesn't want to live anymore.
Jen recognized that her depression was severe and called the crisis team. The director of Social Services and the team talked to the patient. The patient did feel better after talking to someone. The crisis will now follow up with her. Jen showed great empathy for this patient.
