I was admitted after having a craniotomy. I suffered a pulmonary embolism after my surgery. I was placed in the Heart Hospital for my hospital stay. While all of the nurses were very nice and helpful, one nurse went out of her way to help me. Jennifer came in and asked if I needed anything, and boy did she get an earful! I was very upset because due to the craniotomy, I could not have blood thinners for the embolism, which led to my not getting food or drink or anything to help with my constipation. To say that I was miserable was an understatement! At that point, I had three doctors who were disagreeing on every aspect of my care. I was very confused and upset. Each doctor gave a recommendation, but none gave orders. Jennifer told me she would speak with the doctors then come back and help me to understand what they were telling me. During the time the doctors were making their rounds, Jennifer had other patients who required her attention. She still managed to catch up with my doctors and get each one to speak with me while she was present, so she could explain things to me. I cannot adequately explain how helpful that was! Not only did she help me, but she also made sure that I knew when I could eat, get meds, etc. She was clearly frazzled by having to deal with me, and her other patients' immediate needs, but she never complained or even rushed through anything. She took her time and was very kind. I appreciate her very much!
