My wife had two of our children at HOCC. After our first baby was delivered, we were nervous and exhausted; our son was not sleeping, feedings were not very successful, and he was losing weight. Although we never doubted the care we were getting at HOCC, it was easy to doubt ourselves as first-time parents. Jenn walked in as our overnight nurse on our last night and must have been able to identify our exhaustion and concern. She immediately rolled up her sleeves and told us everything was okay. She helped get our son comfortable, fed and rested, and she even helped us get the same! In an overwhelming and exhausting situation as first-time parents, Jenn was a shining light for us.

Fast-forward to today. My wife was having our third child. On our first night after her C-section, who walked in the door at night shift change? Jenn! We couldn’t believe it. Five years later, she is still selflessly helping mothers and babies transition through their newborn journeys. Jenn is not just any nurse. She honestly feels for her patients and does whatever is possible to make them feel comfortable, confident, and well cared for. She makes a potentially tense and overwhelming experience feel natural, exciting, and rewarding. We cannot thank Jenn enough for what she does and can’t imagine how many families she helped in a similar fashion in the five years between our visits.

Oh, and who could forget, when she walked in during our first night, we told her our daughter had many bowel movements during her first day. She laughed and said the record was 12 bowel movements by a baby in the first 24 hours. Our daughter was up to the challenge and matched the 12 bowel movements over those first 24 hours.
The next morning, we woke up and found a beautifully printed and creative certificate for her saying she was the cutest record setter. This is just one example of Jenn going above and beyond to ensure the most extraordinary and rewarding family experience throughout the newborn process.
