I came to York on a hospital transfer from Chambersburg because of a ruptured membrane. I was moved to antepartum after it was determined that the babies could be staying in the womb for several weeks. I was starting to feel discouraged at the prospect of being an hour and a half away from my husband and three daughters, and being cooped up in a hospital.
I was asking my nurse at the time, Jen, if there was a way to order drop-off groceries from Target to the hospital to have some things that reminded me of home and feed my pregnancy cravings. Jen said to call Target and that she would go pick up my purchases after her shift. I was moved by her kindness and called to find out. It turned out that Target couldn't figure out how to have someone else pick up my purchases. So, Jen asked me for a list and went after her shift!
I received three bags of goodies that were on my list, even special shampoo and conditioner to make me feel less like a patient and more like myself. When I asked for the best way to reimburse her, she refused the payment and said to put it toward the twins.
It was something so above and beyond her job description that I was deeply blessed.
