Jennifer is an amazing nurse who goes above and beyond what is expected. Jen is an RN Care Coordinator for the Eastside Pediatric/Teen Clinic and has been working for Denver Health for 10 years. Recently, she worked out a situation where a child with special needs that included a physical handicap was able to attend camp. The child needed someone to be with him and although the camp catered to children with special needs, they did not have anyone that could sit with him all day. The mother of the child could come, but Jen was hoping to provide some respite time for this mother. Jen asked her colleagues if they would be interested in volunteering to assist this child but the commitment was for 2 days a week for a month. Jen herself was planning to take her day off during the week and volunteer to sit with this kiddo. She initiated a go-fund-me account and was able to raise over $650 to provide funds for a paid sitter to be with the child at camp. Jen saw this need and addressed it which showed such caring and compassion. This was certainly outside of her role. This story was shared with the Denver Community Health Services, Inc. Board and was recognized by them.
