I was referred to the Wound Care Department by the Dermatology Department as I had a leg wound that was not responding to treatment. I made my first appointment and had gone for treatment numerous times when Jenny suggested she put on a “boot” to leave on for the next week. I requested it be removed a day earlier then scheduled as I had a meeting at noon and I’d be thankful if that could be arranged. It was not possible because Wound Care was totally booked during that time. I was very disappointed but I understood as they have a busy department. Jenny (known as “JT” by her co-workers) asked me to wait while she checked her schedule. The next thing I knew, she was telling me she could and would remove the boot as I could very possibly injure my leg if I attempted to remove it myself. I was totally shocked, amazed, and most grateful to her – she showed compassion, empathy, and caring as my boot was removed the day I wanted it to be, and it was JT’s day off. I will never forget her act of kindness, and I feel she certainly deserves the DAISY Award for this act of selflessness!
