I was admitted to Carroll Hospital for an abscess on my colon. As part of my treatment, two drains were inserted into my abdomen. Ten days into my treatment, Jennifer came on duty. During her initial check of my situation, she determined that one of the drains in my abdomen had actually been inserted into my bladder. Jen immediately called for the PA and began the process of having that drain removed. None of the other nurses or Hospitalists who had seen me noticed the problem. Who knows what the consequences would have been if Jen had not discovered the error, and I had been sent home with a drain in my bladder? Thank goodness for Jennifer Kerzel and her nursing expertise. Jen is an exemplary nurse and deserves to be recognized for her outstanding performance.
