Jen Kuhn has been an amazing primary nurse for a Patient whose hospital stay spanned nearly 6 months. Jen literally took this patient's life into her hands and helped him to rehab at CCH. This patient has down syndrome and Spanish speaking and had a cardiac arrest, respiratory arrests, a trach, peg tube, and behavioral issues. He needed a lot of care and as weeks went by the patient was making progress. Jen was integral in the patient's eventual discharge, discussions, and involvement with the family (Jen learned many Spanish phrases, and also had help from our Spanish interpreters), fostering and strengthening the patient, and working/coordinating with the Physical Therapist.

Jen is a well-seasoned nurse and pulled from her repertoire of knowledge, compassion, and going above and beyond to affect this patient's well-being at the CCH and to his transition back to his home with his Mother ("Mama") and family. She is able to consider the Big Picture in all aspects of nursing, and patient outcomes, and worked with multiple team members at CCH including Case Management, Physical Therapy, Interpreter services, the Chief Medical officer, and fellow staff members of 4 Lasko/Telemetry.

Her care for this patient was inspiring to all those she works with every day. She is a shining star in our Unit and this example of her wonderful caring heart, the heart of a nurse, a mother, and a caregiver. This is just one example of many of the patients that Jen has cared for over her career. This one was special and will always hold a place in our 4Lasko hearts, and Jen should be commended and qualifies for many honors. She is absolutely amazing and helped this patient recover, rehab, and rebuild his strength and heart. She will forever be a part of this patient's life and his well-being. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
