My wife was admitted to the emergency room. The emergency room at Riverside Methodist Hospital was so full. She was moved to a private room in the emergency department within 2 hours of our arrival. My wife was in dire pain, crying and occasionally screaming because her pain was so excruciating. Jennifer was the nurse who attended her. Within a few minutes, Jennifer had gained my wife’s confidence assuring her that she would do everything she could to get my wife the proper attention. She was so genuinely helpful and concerned. Her presence and demeanor were comforting to my wife through the next few hours even though the doctors were unable to diagnose the source of the pain.

My wife told me that she felt like Jennifer was her "guardian angel" sent to help her. What happened next, near the end of Jennifer’s shift, was what really amazed us. Jennifer contacted another nurse who was to come on duty in the next shift and asked her if she could take her shift. Jennifer called her 3 young boys and asked them if they would support her staying all night with my wife. And she stayed. As they were unable to get a "real" hospital room for my wife, Jennifer had a better bed brought in and checked with my wife and me throughout the night. In my opinion, Jennifer exemplified the best of what quality health care can provide through caring and dedicated staff.
