It is her compassion and dedication to the nursing profession that inspires students to pursue this prestigious career.
Dr. Mahieu serves as a role model to the students in our nursing program because she exhibits professionalism in the clinical and classroom settings.

Not only does she serve as a classroom professor, a clinical instructor, and the ATI faculty champion, but she also takes time to encourage students with NCLEX questions and ALCA portfolio preparations.

Dr. Mahieu demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching with creative techniques. She often begins class and testing sessions with upbeat music. She incorporates creative concept maps and silly YouTube videos to enhance our learning. She inspires students with quotes from famous people.

She demonstrates resilience, walking from unit to unit to check on students during night clinicals, even with her history of hip surgery. She never complains about hip issues, nor does she express difficulty with staying awake during daytime classes following night shift clinicals in Oklahoma City.

She expresses sincere concern for the student’s safety in the OU Children’s Hospital parking lot and ensures that all students arrive and return to their vehicles before she leaves clinical.

Dr. Mahieu often sends the students encouraging emails and takes an interest in our success. She provides feedback on our accomplishments. She expresses positivity towards our professional growth and continues to remind us that with hard work, we will achieve our goals.

She works well with her colleagues and has been enthusiastic about the transition from the Kaplan to the ATI testing curriculum.

Dr. Mahieu is one of many amazing instructors at Northwestern. She has gone above and beyond to provide positive experiences for junior and senior nursing students. It is her compassion and dedication to the nursing profession that inspires students to pursue this prestigious career.
