She embodies the qualities of compassion, advocacy, listening, and critical thinking.
Jenn was my dad's nurse the day he was moved to ICU as well as multiple other days during his stay. When he knew she would be there he felt more at ease and did better physically. She took the time to get to know him as an individual, not just another patient. She made sure he was comfortable and listened to his concerns. He had a rough day/night at one point while she was off and within hours of her starting her shift the next day she recognized changes in him and advocated for intervention. He was so much better by the end of her shift that day. She has impeccable critical thinking skills, which she used to get to the bottom of some of his issues. Her experience was evident in the way she reassured both him and me, that she would make sure things got resolved. She explained things, advocated to his care team for further intervention, and did whatever she could to make him comfortable and get him feeling better. She did all of this without seeming busy or bothered and made us feel like he was her main priority at that time. After feeling like he was on a downhill slide she was really able to get his care turned around and get him on the uphill climb. I am an RN myself and in 23 years and 3 states of practice, I can confidently say she is one of the BEST nurses I have encountered. She embodies the qualities of compassion, advocacy, listening, and critical thinking. I am so grateful for all her help with my Dad and the care he received while in her capable hands. She is a great reminder of why we do what we do as nurses! You can tell she derives satisfaction from changing the outcome and providing the best care possible to her patients, and does it with a smile and calm demeanor. Kudos to you Jenn!!!
