In the news the other day was the story of a woman from Indiana who died from Overhydration. That is exactly what I was suffering from when I came into the Fatima ED on Friday midday. Jenn, the ED nurse who had my case was smart enough to figure it out. She noticed my sodium level was low. If I had kept drinking, I could have been in very rough shape.

Throughout my ED visit, Jenn watched me like a hawk. I had gone into the ED barely able to walk. There was a fear that I may have had a stroke. She and the rest of her team ran several tests to make sure that that did not happen. She repeatedly tested the strength of my hands, legs, and feet. Finally, when it became clearer that I had simply become overhydrated and my electrolyte balance was off, she gave me a clean bill of health.
